What choices are out there for colleges and universities and what do they have to offer that can address how you learn and the skills you need to acquire to be successful?
Since I want to go into a trade that does not have a need for a degree from a university I will be going to a trade school. Here I think that I would need to gain the learning skill to remember a lot of different things for a long time. For that I think that I could imagine my self doing these that way I am prepared to do so. Those schools can be really any that is close to where I would potentially work. The things that I will need to learn are woodworking, welding, and anything that can help in that type of area. For those I do plan on attending Palomar college because it has the best wood shop in the nation and I think that it will help me greatly. There they also have welding classes which will help me in that area. If I do need anymore education I can get it there or can learn it in my workplace. |
1. Go into a useful internship.
2. Finish high school . 3. Get a job or start my own in my own company in construction. 4. Go to Palomar college to learn more about woodworking. 5. Continue Palomar classes while also working in construction or furniture. 6. Work my way up in the business as much as I can. 7. Run a small business in construction and get big (high paying) jobs. 8. Grow business 9. Continue to grow as much as I can. 10. Only Show up to work when I have to. |
Interview:
This is a few excerpts from an interview that I had with someone who went to college and how that affected them in the workplace that they are now in.
What did you go to college for?
I went to college to become a brick mason I thought that doing that would help me to better understand what I was doing and to get a better paying job.
How did going to college to become a brick mason help you later after college?
It helped me until I moved to a different country where that type of work was not in as much of a demand. When I got here I then had to learn a whole new job when I became a plumber after a few years of that I moved on to what I now do (Construction). Since then I have only learned what I know off of the job.
Do you believe that going to college was a good choice for you?
Yes and no, yes because it helped me to become a better mason for that period. No because those skills that went to college for I very rarely use.
